How do I add a custom tag for Message Center items in ChangePilot?

Custom tags can be added via the SharePoint List to enable enhanced marking and filtering of Microsoft 365 Message Center items.

Microsoft add tags to their Microsoft 365 Message Center items to signal the theme or type of change or update the message is about. These tags are passed through as part of the ChangePilot item processing. Examples of these Microsoft-created tags are:

  • Admin Impact - tagged 'Admin Action' in ChangePilot to avoid confusion with our supplementary Admin Impact score
  • User Impact - tagged 'User Adoption' in ChangePilot to avoid confusion with our supplementary User Impact score
  • New Feature
  • Feature Update
  • Retirement

In your Message Center SharePoint/Microsoft List (ChangeTracker), you will also find additional tags relating to business units you may wish to utilise. AI-powered business unit tagging from ChangePilot coming Spring 2025.

It is possible to add additional tag options to support your individualised usage of ChangePilot.

How to add custom tag options

  1. Navigate to your Message Center SharePoint/Microsoft List (ChangeTracker).
  2. Find the 'Tags' column and click on the headings row in that column > Column settings > Edit.

  3. Scroll to the bottom of the available 'Choices' and add your new custom tag. If you are using ChangePilot-provided JSON files for your Choices formatting, contact your Customer Success Contact who can provide a new file/additional code to format the new choice as desired.

Your new tag will now be available in both the ChangePilot App and SharePoint/Microsoft List.
