How do I disable SharePoint/Microsoft Lists comments?

We are using post comments in Teams to collaborate on and discuss Microsoft 365 Message Center and Roadmap items. I do not want separate discussion against the SharePoint/Microsoft Lists item; how do I disable these comments?

This is a legacy article relating to 'ChangePilot Pro', the ChangePilot App versions 2.2 or older and SharePoint List powered instances.

When using ChangePilot as an operational workflow for Microsoft 365 change management, discussion is encouraged against items. The most common, and our advised method of discussion is to use Replies to the item posts/adaptive cards as they appear in Microsoft Teams channels:

It is also possible to use the comments function in Sharepoint Lists/Microsoft Lists:

To encourage teams and individuals to utilise Teams posts replies rather than Sharepoint/Microsoft Lists comments, you can disable comments in Sharepoint/Microsoft Lists:

  1. Open the ChangeTracker List in a browser. If you are in Teams, you can do this using the ellipsis:
    ChangePilot ChangeTracker
  2. When ChangeTracker is open in a browser, click on the cog in the top right of the screen and select 'List Settings':
    SharePoint List Settings
  3. Within 'Advanced Settings' is the option to disable comments:
    SharePoint Advanced SettingsSharePoint List Comments

It is possible to disable replies to posts in Microsoft Teams via the 'Manage channel' settings at the channel level, and unchecking 'Allow members to reply to channel messages'. However, this is not recommended for optimal use of ChangePilot.
